Middle East focus on Rai Radio 3
Rai Radio 3 (radio tre) is the National Italian radio specialized in culture and classical music. Radio3-Suite, the Radio3 evening program, runs every day from about 8 p.m. till midnight. We broadcast live and recorded concerts mainly of classical music, interviews about music, arts, poetry and a broad range of short but rather in-depth information “specials”.
The EECMS has asked the Italian composer, musicologist and presenter of the program Fabio Cifariello Ciardi to share with you his very personal reflections on the program. The EECMS frankly was surprised that the interview went political to include topics that relevant to the European listeners in particular in time where Europe witnessing great challenges.
I host the program for about 4-6 weekends twice a year and, since I am a composer and I teach composition and new technologies for the rest of the year, I try to look at music and art from non-traditional perspectives. Within this framework, last August, I proposed a 30’ special on Middle-East contemporary music with the invaluable help of Sherif El Razzaz, Bushra El-Turk, Hassan Taha and Ahmed Madkour.
The feedback from the listeners has been encouraging: many of them where positively surprised and just very few of them felt uncomfortable in listening music from the middle east right after the 8/17 terrorist attacks in Barcelona.
‘I constantly ask myself if and up to which point I should make my ideas unambiguous about the world around me. Sometimes, I think I should force myself to have a proactive attitude towards social and political events, some other times I find myself burying my head into the sand. Still, I often dream about round tables where western, Eastern and Middle East artists can respectfully talk to each other of their fears, dreams, rights, concerns and principles about life and music. An endless talk for helping everyone to understand the others. “The universe is not user-friendly”, but its differences and variety encourage connections and knowledge. Why shouldn’t I just scale the concept to my social and working life?
As I read about the obligation of the Ummah to conquer the world and rule it under Sharia law, as I read about Uighurs persecution in China or about religious minorities living on the edge of extinction, as I consider Guido Regeni murder and 2003 Iraq invasion, I think my dream will never come true. But when I listen to your music and words I feel about working with other bridges builders instead of just dreaming or complaining about injustices.`

لقاء مع الموسيقى المعاصرة من العالم العربى على رادیو راى
رادیو راي 3 (رادیو تري ) هو الإذاعة الوطنیة الإیطالیة المتخصصة في الثقافة والموسیقى الكلاسیكیة. ویعمل برنامج رادیو 3 –سویت، كل یوم من الساعة الثامنة مساء حتى منتصف اللیل ، حيث يتم بث الحفلات الموسیقیة الحیة والمسجلة ، ولقاءات حول الموسیقى والفنون والشعر واستعراض معلومات مقتضبة متعمقة أكاديمية على نطاق واسع.
وقد طلبت الجمعیة الاوروبیة المصریة للموسیقى المعاصرة من المؤلّف الإیطالي فابیو سیفاریلو سیاردي ، والمتخصص فى علوم الموسيقى ومقدم البرنامج أن يشارككم تأملاته الشخصیة من خلال البرنامج. وقد تفاجئت الجمعیة الاوروبیة المصریة للموسیقى المعاصرة بأن المقابلة اتجهت لمسار سیاسي لتشمل مواضیع ذات صلة بالمستمعین الأوروبیین على وجه الخصوص في الوقت الذي تشهد فیه أوروبا تحدیات كبیرة
ويقول فابيو سياردى “استضفت البرنامج 4-6 مرات فى عطلات نهاية الأسبوع مرتين في السنة في هذا الإطار، حيث اقوم بدراسة التأليف بالتقنيات الحديثة والنظر الى الموسيقى والفنون من وجهات نظر غير تقليدية. وفي أغسطس الماضي، اقترحت 30 مؤلفة من النتاج الموسیقى المعاصرمن الشرق الأوسط مع مساعدة لا تقدر بثمن من شریف الرزاز وبشرى الترك و حسّان طه وأحمد مدكور. وكانت ردود الفعل من المستمعین مشجعة: حیث تفاعل العديد منهم بشكل إیجابي بالاستماع إلى موسیقى من الشرق الأوسط ، بينما أظهر عدد قلیل جدا منهم شعور بعدم الارتیاح وخاصة مع اذاعة البرنامج بعد احداث التفجيرات الإرهابية ببرشلونه
أنا أسأل نفسي باستمرار كيف أتعامل مع أفكاري الغامضة حول العالم المحيط بى. ففي بعض الأحیان، أعتقد أن أجبر نفسي على اتخاذ موقف استباقي تجاه الأحداث الاجتماعیة والسیاسیة، وأحیانا أخرى أجد نفسي مدفون الرأس في الرمال. ومع ذلك، أحلم كثيراً بحلقات النقاش والموائد المستدیرة التى تجمع الفنانین من الغرب والشرق والتحدث بكل احترام مع بعضهم البعض عن مخاوفهم وأحلامهم وحقوقهم ومبادئهم بشأن الحیاة والموسیقى. حدیث لا نهایة له لمساعدة الجمیع على فهم الآخرین. “لیس من السهل فهم الكون“. فالتنوع والاختلافات يُشجع التواصل والمعرفة. لماذا لا یمكنني مجرد توسیع نطاق المفهوم إلى حیاتي الاجتماعیة والعمل؟ عندما أقرأ عن عزم مجموعة بغزو العالم وحكمه بموجب الشریعة، و أقرأ عن اضطهاد الیوغور في الصین أو عن الأقلیات الدینیة التي تعیش على حافة الانقراض، وعندما آخذ بعین الاعتبار قتل غویدو ریجیني وغزو العراق 2003 ، أعتقد أن حلمي لن یتحقق. ولكن عندما أستمع إلى الموسیقى وأتحدث مع الاخرين أشعربمد الجسور بدلا من مجرد الحلم أو الشكوى من الظلم.”
