Cairo Contemporary Music Days 2018

Cairo Contemporary music days 2018:

We are very happy to be holding our 6th edition of the Cairo contemporary music days, which has been a platform for international exchange, as well as showcasing local productions since its beginning. It will be held from the 14th till the 28th of April 2018; and it will include Academic projects, Master classes and some talks, of course other than the performances. This year’s festival mainly highlights a German- Arab collaboration; especially Egyptian. This collaboration is due to how Germany has become one of the most important hubs for contemporary music; especially in a city like Berlin, that provides a lot of facilities to its composers and its residents, which allows countless collaborations. One of the results of these collaborations is the Participation of ensemble Mosaik,

With its very interesting program beside the based in Berlin composers, the programme is demonstrating wide cultural diversities by collaborating with Arab composers, to include three new world premieres from participants in the Heritage and modernity forum 2016 ( supported by the Allianz Culture Foundation) that was held in Cairo. Also the Project “my voice, your voice, our voice” is still developing and in the process to include other artists, especially after the premiere in the Cairo contemporary music days, as well as its other bookings in other European festivals.

The festival’s main supporters are mainly the foreign cultural relations sector and Goethe Institute with its international co-production fund, Goethe-Institut Kairo as well as Instituto Cervantes.
