Looking back at perhaps the most successful Cairo Contemporary Music Days edition ever, the festival– which was held in Cairo between 14th – 29th April 2018– demonstrated how our work has grown over the last few years, as it is evident from the sold-out venues (considering we do not sell box office tickets) how contemporary music can be so accessible in a country like Egypt. That wasn’t the case for sure when we started in 2011 with the first edition, two months after the Egyptian revolution. The determination to keep activities going despite the most difficult social and political transition the country has ever faced in its recent history, when official culture centres were shut down for years, is recently paying back and we can say that the Cairo contemporary Music Days have become a landmark festival and an important stop in the global contemporary music market.
