EECMS Membership in the International Society for Contemporary Music
The EECMS is proud to announce that it has obtained a Full Associate Membership in the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM)! We wish to express our gratitude towards the General Assembly of the ISCM for the invaluable chance to join this international family.
The ISCM is the oldest international organization dedicated exclusively to fostering contemporary music. Becoming the very first associate ISCM member from North Africa and the Arab world will have a palpable effect on the new music scene in Egypt and beyond, and constitutes a major step in the history of the EECMS.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Partners and Supporters over the years. We are particularly indebted to the Art Mentor Foundation and the Strecker Foundation, who played an essential role in our structural development at a crucial time, as well as the American University in Cairo, the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector of the Ministry of Culture, and the Cairo Opera House, who were reliable Partners from the very beginning. We also warmly thank the Asian and European institutions, foundations and cultural centres that have made it possible for us to present such diverse programs in Egypt: the British Council, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cairo, the former Muziek Centrum Nederland, the Goethe-Institut, the Institut Ramon Llull, the Japan Foundation and all the others.
There is a long list of personalities and ensembles from all over the world to whom we are grateful, many of which did not only show great understanding for the difficult circumstances in Egypt in the last three years,we will not try to give their names here, but hope that they know how much their commitment is appreciated.
Finally, we would like to thank our audiences in Egypt and Europe, the participants of our academic and educational programs, and all our friends, newsletter and Facebook followers for their continued interest in our activities.
In 2015, we will celebrate the fifth birthday of the EECMS and the inauguration of the Ebdaa Centre for Contemporary Arts with many fantastic international ensembles and outstanding concerts, academic and educational programs, as well as a continuation of our own ON 25 Egyptian Composers series and new implementation. We hope that many of you will celebrate with us!
